Preface 1-GLOBAL
|
INTRODUCTION This goal of the spiritual universe is to maximize happiness through human actions. It means that there must be a close relation between the results of the human actions and the will of the transcendental subject. Indeed, your own human destiny is clearly a result of his accordance with the will of the transcendental subject. From this ground, we can assume that Reincarnation could be the answer to the question that tormented men since the beginning of humanity: Where are we coming from? Where are we going? However, we have already reached the extreme limits of human understanding and reasoning. Therefore, we have to assert that this lesson must be read as a likely story. It 's quite the Plato's myth just transposed in modern words. 1-GLOBAL AND INDIVIDUAL SUBJECTS 2-REINCARNATION 3-CONCLUSION 1-TRANSCENDENTAL AND INDIVIDUAL SUBJECTS The transcendental subject and our own subject are the same and only their contents differ. There is rather a functional composition than a real separation between the former and the latter. It means that all our sensations and feelings reflected in our individual consciousness are also known by the transcendental subject. 11-Results of the different selfs. For each complex form, the transcendental subject has to concentrate his thinking in order to individualize a subject. Let's suppose that the transcendental subject attributes simultaneously two subjects to two new human Forms A and B. At the beginning, that is to say at birth, the two selfs are identical. They have the same potential reason and virgin consciousness. During the life, the two selfs register different experiences and they are no more identical. They make up different choices, perform different actions and they fill up their consciousness with different sensations. Now let's suppose that the result of the self of A is a tyrant and that the result of the self of B appears to be a scientist alleviating pain. What are the causes of these results. You may think that these results are encrypted at the origin in the different forms. For example, a beautiful body is encrypted in the form. Sometimes a damaged brain results also of the Form. What is more, if you are born slave and in a poor family, how could it be possible to get the same results that someone who is born prince or in a wealthy family? In fact, regarding ethical criterion, beauty or social conditions at birth do not weight. A slave has better opportunities to improve freewill and happiness than a prince who already enjoys such benefits. For example, Spartacus has certainly done more for freedom than any prince along the human history. It means that the causes of the results are not in the forms. They are not in the two selfs since they were both identical at the beginning. They only can result of the choices and actions of the subjects in accordance with their freewill. Since the freewill is unconditioned (deprived of any previous cause), it means that the freewill of A has corrupted itself through actions while the freewill of B has done well. Now let's suppose that the global subject has finished to think the forms A and B : A and B are dissociated and return to simple forms. It means the death of the two bodies A and B. Now, what happens with the two selfs? There is another story. 12-Choices of the transcendental subject In time 2, the transcendental subject creates two new forms corresponding to human creatures: C and D. As each form is singular, notably because it is created through the association of previous forms (heredity) we can suppose that the form C for example can only bring poor sensations while the form D can authorize a high potential. Now, the transcendental subject has two solutions: he can provide the two forms with two new selfs through a new concentration, or he can use the previous selfs by only repeating the previous concentration. According to the economical principle of the Occam razor, the transcendental subject subject has better to use the previous selfs. However, he will affect the bad form to the self of A who had badly performed. On the contrary, he will attribute the good form to the self of B. Now these two selfs are once again identical at the beginning. The global subject has none guarantee that the self who had well performed in T1 will again well perform in T2! This theory is in accordance with Plato: The souls are judged and get in their new life a bad or a good vehicle in reward or in penalty due to their past accomplishments in the previous life. Since your self has gotten a good result in a previous live, you can expect to benefit of a new form giving the representation of a beautiful and intelligent person! On the other hand, Criminals will receive very bad forms only bringing to them ugly and painful sensations. The rebirth theory is for them a dreadful prospect and they should have better to meditate on this fact right now! However, there is none fatality. The self who overcomes such a handicap and manages to do good, will then find in his next life a better potential. The transcendental subject only distributes the cards and then it is up to you to play the party. With a bad hand, you can nevertheless register a good score! I must underline that a man has always the possibility until his last breathe to change the meaning and the value of his entire life. For example, let's suppose that by the end of your life, you expose your life to save a child in preventing him to be burnt. In doing so, you change the meaning of your entire life. Even if your life was until this event a cheap and meaningless life, it suddenly becomes a rich life which has improved happiness in the world . So until the death, there is no reason to fall in despair or to complain about a worthless life. 1-GLOBAL AND INDIVIDUAL SUBJECTS 2-REINCARNATION 3-CONCLUSION This theory implies the process of rebirth. How can we describe it? 21-The process At death, all your sensations disappear just like during a coma or an surgical anesthesia. Death is nothing more than that. If you have experienced such events, you have certainly observed that when you wake up from an anesthesia, at the first time you cannot realize where you are. You need some seconds to recollect that it is you who is waking up and to realize that you have a past. What is more, when you are clearly conscious and when you have recollect the previous events, you have the feeling that may be just a minute has past between the anesthesia and your present wake up. In fact nurses have to explain you that several hours separated these two events. It means that you have absolutely lost the sensation of time. From this real experiment, we can expect that the rebirth is exactly the same as the first seconds of your wake up in the previous example. Suddenly, you see some confuse shapes (your mother and the nurse). You do not understand where you are, you then feel a bodily sensation, you only cry and finally you are starting a new life. Dying is therefore just like going to sleep at the end of a life and waking up in another life. Of course you have no recollection about your previous life. You have now to freely manage a new form which has been attributed to you by the transcendental subject. 22-Some
questions Some people think that we can rebirth in another historical time. They say sometimes that they can recollect their previous life in the middle age or forecast their future life in some alien planet. All these expectations are added hypothesis that do not fit with the occam razor principle. The simplicity is to admit that the selfs are immediately used in the time succeeding to the death of their previous forms. It means that we rebirth in the current historical period. Does the cycle of rebirths end? In many religions it is supposed that after several rebirths, the individual self can be identified with the transecndental subject and then he could expect to enjoy an eternal felicity. Such speculations are beyond our knowledge. However, we can posit that a self never disappears since he participates to the eternity of the transcendental subject. Therefore, a self is whether identified with the transcendental self and his individual modality does not exist any more, whether in charge of a form in a living experience. A good question should be to ask what could be the interest of such an identification regarding the global goal of the transcendental subject. We could imagine that the global subject wants to reintegrate some self having performing very well in order to make them appear again in some difficult circumstances. In many religious or esoteric traditions, you find the idea that some upper self reappear periodically when societies are perverted or when humanity is in despair. The absolute Idealism does not contradict this idea but cannot ground its real existence since too much uncertainties are prevalent. 1-GLOBAL AND INDIVIDUAL SUBJECTS 2-REINCARNATION 3-CONCLUSION Once again, we must underline that this lesson must be read as a likely story. According to this theory, our acts are related to the entire spiritual universe and have large consequences. The transcendental subject attributes to each self a bad or a good form through the successive rebirths. Dying is just like going to sleep at the end of a life and waking up in another life. 1-GLOBAL AND INDIVIDUAL SUBJECTS 2-REINCARNATION 3-CONCLUSION ADDITIONAL COMMENTS 1-Nevertheless, keep in mind that in such a case you have always the possibility to end this unbearable life through a suicide. What is more such a suicide could be a duty if it appears that the only possibility you have to alleviate pain in the world is to alleviate your own pain. This conclusion could be astonishing but it sounds right. 2-There is also a materialist theory of rebirth that is coming up from the stoics. Firstly they postulated as us an eternal universe with a cyclical return. Since you are present right now, you are the product of a series of causes. All the other existences are also the result of a series of causes. Then, when another cycle begins all the series of causes are mixed. Now, let's imagine a dices shaker cup in which we can put all the causes. Let's shake the cup and throw the dices at the beginning of each cycle. Since the number of cycles and throws is quite infinite, the series of causes that has produced you in this cycle will come out a number of times! It is once again a classical materialist argument that is going nowhere! Indeed as the series of cycles is infinite, we can imagine a second infinity inside the former and we can state that your series of causes will come out an infinite number of times! Of course as the series of causes is the same, you always have the same body, the same life the same thoughts. As Nietzsche said such a prospect is really dreadful, notably for those who endure right now a painful existence and who are quite sure to support it an infinite number of time! There is also a dualist vision based on the idea that the body is material and the mind spiritual. According to the metempsychoses dogma the mind of the dead person is reincarnated as the germ of a new born. Plato thought that this new born was always an human while the Indus think that it could be an animal. Anyway such a rebirth means that a spirit leaves a dead material body and transports itself in a new born material body. We are facing again the communication problem between two different substances: material and spirit. What is more, if the spirit of every new man is coming from a dead, it's impossible to explain how the population could grow. However, with Plato and pythagoras, metempsychoses appears in the religious history as the basic belief of indo-european populations. It had then be replaced by the dogma coming from the Middle East. Of course, It survives in India. Shoppenhauer used to say that it was the only religious dogma which was not absolutely in opposition with science. You will find here a lot of sites regarding reincarnation. Some of them are critical, some other plead for this idea. However, keep in mind that our own concept is quite different since we do not admit any material body. www.beyondthenet.net/dhamma/rebirth.htm www.healthsystem.virginia.edu/DOPS 1-GLOBAL AND INDIVIDUAL SUBJECTS 2-REINCARNATION 3-CONCLUSION Home page Legal advices Privacy policy Search engines Contact Send to a friend
