INTRODUCTION
The goal of the thinking universe is to maximize happiness through human actions. Indeed, our own human destiny depends on its accordance with that will.
Where are we coming from? Where are we going? Rebirth could be the answer to the question that tormented men since the beginning of humanity.
Clearly, we have reached the extreme limits of our reasoning. Therefore, this lesson must be read as a likely story. It is quite the Plato's myth just transposed in modern words.

1-DESTINY OF THE DIFFERENT SELVES
The thinking system and our own self are the same (report to previous lessons). There is rather a functional composition than a separation between the former and the latter. It means that the thinking system knows all our sensations, feelings and actions reflected in our individual consciousness.
11-Results of the different selves.
For each complex form, the thinking system has to concentrate its thinking in order to individualize a self. Let us suppose the following sequence:
In time 1, it attributes two selves to two new human forms A and B. At birth, the two selves are identical. They have the same potential reason and virgin consciousness. During the life, A and B fill up their consciousness with different sensations, make up different choices, and perform different actions.A becomes a tyrant and B a scientist alleviating pain. What are the causes of these results? You may think that they come from the different forms. Of course, beautiful bodies or damaged brains are encrypted in the forms. What is more, if you are born in a poor family, how could you get the same results that someone who is born in a wealthy family? In fact, regarding ethical criterion, beauty or social conditions at birth do not weight. A slave has better opportunities to improve freewill and happiness than a prince who already enjoys such benefits. For example, Spartacus has certainly done more for freedom than any prince along the human history has.It means that the causes of these contrasted results are not in the forms. They are not in the two genuine selves since they were both identical at the beginning. They only result of the choices and actions performed by the two subjects. It means that the freewill of A has corrupted itself through bad actions while the freewill of B has done well.
Once the tinking system has finished thinking these forms A and B, it dissociates them. It means the death of the two bodies A and B. Now, what happens with the two selves? It is another story!
12-Choices of the thinking system
In time 2, the thinking system thinks two new human forms C and D. As each form is singular, notably because it comes from the association of previous forms (heredity), we suppose that the form C can only bring poor sensations while the form D can authorize a high potential. Now, the thinking system has two solutions: it can provide the two forms with two new selves through a new concentration, or it can use the previous selves (A and B). According to the economical principle of the Occam razor, it has better to use the previous selves.
Consequently, it will affect the bad form C to the self who had badly performed (A). On the contrary, it will attribute the good form D to the self of B. Now, these two selves are once again identical at the beginning. There is none guarantee that the self who had well performed in T1 will again well perform in T2! The thinking system only distributes the cards and then it is up to you to play the party. With a bad hand, you can nevertheless register a good score! (1)
A man has always the possibility until his last breathe to change the value of his entire life. For example, let us suppose that by the end of your life, you expose your life to save a child. In doing so, you change the meaning of your entire life. Even if it was a cheap and meaningless life, it suddenly becomes a rich life because you have improved happiness in the world. Therefore, until the death, there is no reason to fall in despair or to complain about a worthless life.
This theory is in accordance with Plato: The souls are judged and get in their new life a bad or a good vehicle in reward or in penalty due to their accomplishments in the previous life. Since your self has gotten a good result in a previous live, you can expect a new form giving the representation of a beautiful and intelligent person! On the other hand, Criminals will receive very bad forms only bringing to them ugly and painful sensations!

This theory implies the process of rebirth. How can we describe it?
21-The process
At death, all your sensations disappear just like during a coma or a surgical anesthesia. Death is nothing more than that. If you have experienced such events, you have certainly observed that when you wake up from an anesthesia, at the first time you cannot realize where you are. You need some seconds to recollect that you are waking up and that you have a past. What is more, when you are clearly conscious and when you have recollected the previous events, you have the feeling that just a minute has past between the anesthesia and your present wake up. In fact, nurses have to explain you that several hours separated these two events. It means that you have absolutely lost the sensation of time.
From this real experiment, we can expect that the rebirth is the same as the first seconds of your wake up in the previous example. Suddenly, you see some confuse shapes (your mother and the nurse). You do not understand where you are, you then feel a bodily sensation, you only cry and finally you are starting a new life.
Dying is just like going to sleep at the end of a life and waking up in another life. Of course, you have no recollection about your previous life. You have just to manage the new form attributed by the thinking system.
22- Questions
Some theories assert that you could rebirth with an animal form. This concept does not fit here because the capacity of the self varies according to the complexity of the form. Therefore, the self of a man only fit to a man form. It is impossible to rebirth as an eagle or a lion (2).
Some people think that we can rebirth in another historical time. They say that they can recollect their previous life in the middle age or forecast their future life in some alien planet. All these expectations are added hypothesis that do not fit with the Occam razor principle. It means that we rebirth in the current historical period.
Does the cycle of rebirths end? Some religions teach that the individual self identifies himself with God after several rebirths. Then, he should expect an eternal felicity! Such speculations are beyond our knowledge. Moreover, what could be the interest of such identification? We could imagine that the thinking system wants to reintegrate the very good selves in order to make them appear again in difficult circumstances. Some religious or esoteric traditions teach that some upper selves reappear periodically when humanity falls in despair. We do not contradict that idea but we cannot ground it because too many uncertainties remain prevalent.
However, we can posit that a self never disappears since he participates to the eternity of the thinking substance. Therefore, a self is whether identified with the thinking system ( and his individual modality does not exist any more), whether in charge of a form in a living experience.

Once again, we must underline that this lesson must be read as a likely story.
The scientific idealism brings a beautiful and meaningful vision. However, there is a long way to the final truth regarding such matters.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
1-Nevertheless, keep in mind that in such a case you have always the possibility to end this unbearable life through a suicide. What is more such a suicide could be a duty if it appears that the only possibility you have to alleviate pain in the world is to alleviate your own pain. This conclusion could be astonishing but it sounds right.
2-There is also a materialist theory of rebirth that is coming up from the stoics. Firstly, they postulated as us an eternal universe with a cyclical return. Since you are present right now, you are the product of a series of causes. All the other existences are also the result of a series of causes. Then, when another cycle begins, all the series of causes are mixed. Now, let us imagine a dices shaker cup in which we can put all the causes. Let us shake the cup and throw the dices at the beginning of each cycle. Since the number of cycles and throws is infinite, the series of causes that has produced you in this cycle will come out a number of times!
It is once again a classical materialist argument that is going nowhere! Indeed as the series of cycles is infinite, we can imagine a second infinity inside the former and we can state that your series of causes will come out an infinite number of times! Of course, as the series of causes is the same, you always have the same body, the same life the same thoughts. As Nietzsche said such a prospect is dreadful, notably for those who endure a painful existence because they will support it an infinite number of time!
There is also a dualist vision based on the idea that the body is material and the mind spiritual. According to the metempsychoses dogma, the mind of the dead person is reincarnated as the germ of a new born. Plato thought that this new born was always a human while the Indus think that it could be an animal. Anyway, such a rebirth means that a spirit leaves a dead material body and transports itself in a newborn material body. We are facing again the communication problem between two different substances: material and spirit. What is more, if the spirit of every new man is coming from a dead, it is impossible to explain how the population could grow.
However, with Plato and Pythagoras, metempsychose appears in the religious history as the basic belief of indo-European populations. It had then been replaced by the dogma coming from the Middle East. Of course, it survives in India. Schopenhauer used to say that it was the only religious dogma not absolutely in opposition with science.
You will find here many sites regarding reincarnation. Some of them are critical, some other plead for this idea. However, keep in mind that our own concept is quite different since we do not admit any material body.
