THE SPIRITUAL ODYSSEY
GLOBAL PHILOSOPHY-ABSOLUTE IDEALISM

1-WHAT IS IN IT FOR YOU?

Everybody is in quest of a global meaning. Where do we come from? Where are we going? We know the intimate structure of any cell and the furthest galaxies but we are still ignorant about what happens after our death or where we were before our birth.

This essay tries to answer to these questions with a global philosophy reconcilable with Ethics and established scientific knowledge. It could bring you a global serenity. What is more, it provides with some practical and astonishing applications. That is your benefit.

Nevertheless, this essay implies a personal effort because it deals with complex topics. You have to merit it.

2-THE GLOBAL SCHEME

According to the scientific method, we begin with an inquiry about the reality. We study the materialist explanation and we are confronted with a lot of implausible facts. Finally, we conclude that the matter does not exist.

As a result, we construct a new Idealist hypothesis based on the idea that the ultimate reality could be made up of mathematical forms. Indeed, we posit that the entire universe is a thinking substance, that is to say a transcendental Subject who creates these mathematical forms. They are then reflected as sensations of objects into our own consciousness.

By the end, we conclude that the ultimate reality, the energy, the mineral world, the living reign, and finally all the flow of events in the nature are the result of the transcendental subject' thinking process applied to these mathematical forms.

We check this hypothesis and we observe that it does not change anything to our daily perception of the reality. It does not jeopardize the practice of science. Moreover, it brings a more elegant and comprehensive explanation than other theories.

By the end, we deduce from our theory some ethical laws and advices. It appears that our acts are related to the entire spiritual universe and have large consequences. In short, Idealism brings a meaningful vision, destroys any nihilism and corresponds to the philosophy we need in our world.

3-HOW TO READ THIS ESSAY

I recommend you to read all the book except the additional comments in one shot in order to get the global vision. Then read each chapter slowly with its comments and exercise your critical thinking.

In order to preserve clarity, many additional comments are signaled by foot note in the core lessons and reported to the end of each chapter. I have also included a list of suggested links. As a picture is worth a thousand words, you will find a lot of drawings in order to facilitate the understanding. In short, this book is designed to readers with little or no background in philosophy. You do not need to be a specialist.

A tremendous advantage of an e-book compared to a printed book is the ability given to the reader to contact the author in order to get more explanations. You can constantly use this possibility in sending me e-mail.

What is more, send us your contributions. The most interesting will be published on the site with their author 'name. We grant permission to every publisher to reproduce his contribution everywhere. Refer this essay to other people and forward copy to friends.

4-THE ODYSSEY

The inspiration for the book came to me forty years ago. I had a clear intuition that there was something wrong with the Materialism. I followed many dualist roads but all led to nothing. Several times I had to destroy thousand of notes because I realized that I was facing a dead end.

However, I persevered. As my job implied many migrations overseas, I used to transport with me tin trunks loaded with philosophical books. Out of my office and during leisure time, I took the habit to read and meditate. From the African deserts to the South America rain forests, I pursued my quest in benefiting sometimes of very pleasant conditions. I recall myself a week end dedicated to the reading of Kant, while the murmuring wind in the coconut palms lulled me on a magnificent shore of the Indian ocean!

About ten years ago, I realized that Idealism was the only possible solution and I perceived the global scheme of the essay. Unfortunately, I was unable to express it with clarity and this situation brought me anxiety and troubles.

One morning after an entire night dedicated to readings, I suddenly went into a coma. People transported me to the hospital and reported to my family that I was dead! Few hours later, I waked up in the hospital. I saw the nurses with their white skirts through a fog and I was unable to memorize the previous events. During a second, I thought that I was a newborn.

Neurologists said me that I certainly had a brain cancer and that I should die within a short period! Later, they realized that I had nothing: Simply all my neural cells had fired like in a short-circuit. As a result, they ordered me to stop any philosophical researches!

Thanks to this event, I suddenly got the ability to express my vision. On the other hand, some ideas which were very difficult to explain became obvious with the computer revolution. By the same time, many scientist developed new theories about the ultimate reality and some roads were opened through the philosophical jungle toward a new form of Idealism. I wrote some drafts with more and more clarity and finally I achieved the job.

It means that this concise essay results of a constant meditation covering about half a century! I did not publish these results in a philosophic review or in a printed book. I chose to edit this essay through the Internet in order to get a large audience.

5-ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

For many decades, Materialism has been rooted in the mind of people by the teachers of the public high schools. Idealism is depicted like a cranky philosophy opposed to common sense and to scientific accomplishments. On the other hand, people who worship traditional religions are dualist and consider Idealism like an heresy. In such a context, it's quite difficult to share some ideas and finally, as usual, I have gone on my way like a lone ranger. However, I would like to thank my wife Michele who has supported for so many years my reveries!

Many Philosophers have inspired my thinking on the topics covered by this essay and notably Pythagoras, Parmenide, Plato, Plotin and Proclus. We have no genuine writings from Pythagoras but his genius intuitions are today revisited by many scientists. Plato remains an universal Master. I must also quote Kant and Leibnitz. Of course, it's always fruitful to consult Aristotle. Moreover, I have suggested some links related to eminent scientists who are engaged in metaphysical researches in connection with their latest discoveries.

Anyway, the Odyssey goes on. There is yet a long way to the Truth
